Public Information of Government
The city has further disclosed government information and made administrative
affairs more transparent. In 2008, the city government voluntarily made public
49,900 pieces of information and publicized another 14,900 pieces ac- cording to
the residents’request. It received 7,270 requests to publish government
information and gave the go-ahead to 68.5% of them. The government spokesman
system has been improved since it was established in 2004. A regu- lar press
conference is held every two weeks, and, when necessary, more will be held
during the intervals. The city government spokesman’s press briefings are
complemented by more on special topics held by leaders of each department, as
well as online announcement and written versions of a speech. In the year, the
city held 67 press conferences, featuring more than 100 issues of government
work, and answered 785 journalist questions.
