During the past few years, a growing number of overseas news organizations have set up resident offices in Shanghai given the city’s rising position in the world. By the end of last year, 83 foreign news organizations had set up correspondent offices in the city, involving 117 resident journalists. These countries included Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Russia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and Iran.
