1. Citizen of the People’s Republic of China.

2. With diploma of high school, intermediate professional school or above, and the basic knowledge and language expression ability required for tour guiding.

3. Healthy body.

(I) Registration

1、Shanghai tour guide exam adopts online registration. Those who intends to register shall log onto the website of Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission http:// lyw.sh.gov.cn or Shanghai Tourism Website http://www.962020.com to register online within the designated time limit, and the registration system automatically close expiring the time limit. After submit online registration, please handle registration qualification verification within the required time.

2、Documents for verification: the original copy of ID card and army officer certificate and replicate, original diploma credentials and replicate, original report of blood checking and replicate, three one-inch photos (same film without hat). For examinees with additional subjects, they shall also provide the original tour guide certificate and replicate. If the tour guide certificate expires the three-year valid period, the original valid tour guide certificate must be checked, other the tour guide certificate is invalid and the additional exam application will be rejected.

3、The registration fee and exam fee shall be handed in during registration.

4、The municipal tour guide exam office conduct registration verification of the applicants, and issue Exam Certificate to qualified applicants, and stamp the seal of the Municipal Tour Guide Exam Office on the applicant’s photo of the Exam Certificate.

(II) Exam

The exam time is published by the Municipal Tour Guide Office, the exam is organized and conducted strictly in accordance with related regulations of State Tourism Administration, which is divided into two parts of written test and simulation tour guide test (oral test). Written test includes policy, regulations and work ethics (including tourism regulations, work ethics, current policies), tour guide profession and tour guide basic knowledge. Oral test contains two parts, that is,“tour guide interpretation competence”and“tour guide standard service competence and emergency handling and adjustment competence”. In addition, applicants of foreign language shall take additional foreign language written test, and conduct on-site simulation tour guide test (oral test) with the registered language. The result of tour guide exam is valid in the current year, and there is no amendment exam.

(III) Publication of exam result

The exam result is published by Municipal Tour Guide Exam Office. The examinee can log onto the website of Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission http:// lyw.sh.gov. cn. or Shanghai Tourism Website http://www.962020.com to enquire the exam result. If the examinee suspects the result, he/she can go through the result-enquiry formalities, then the Municipal Tour Guide Office collectively conduct the enquiry.

(IV) Certificate issued

Upon passing all the exams, the municipal tour guide evaluation office will issue Tour Guide Certificate to the examinee. Tour Guide Certificate is produced under the supervision of the State Tourism Administration of the People’s Republic of China, which is applicable within the territory of People’s Republic of China.
