All motor vehicles with formal number plate of Shanghai that reaches the maximum life span or requires discarding due to accidents or other reasons.

a. Fill the Application Form of Registration and Cancellation of Vehicle Suspension and Restoration, Application Form of Motor Vehicle Discarding and Renewal of Shanghai and Retrieval Certificate of Discarded Vehicles of Shanghai;

b. The form shall have the seal of the organization for vehicles of organizations, and signature of the owner for private vehicles;

c. Past the monotype of the steel stamp number on the engine and chassis on the first page of the Application Form of Motor Vehicle Discarding and Renewal of Shanghai.

d. Take the Registration Certificate of Motor Vehicles of the discarded vehicle (not required if not issued), Vehicle Registration, Registration Form of Motor Vehicles (copy) and the two license plates;

e. If the Vehicle Registration or license plate of the discarded vehicle is lost, the formalities of license plate reissue shall also be finished;

f. The formalities for statement in newspaper;

g. The discarded vehicle must be sent to vehicle disassembly factory to be disassembled.

h. Identification of the owner (identification code and IC card for organizations, or ID for private car owners)

Strictly inspect the Application Form of Motor Vehicle Discarding and Renewal of Shanghai and Retrieval Certificate of Discarded Vehicles of Shanghai, confirm the pasted engine number, chassis number, and stamp the special stamp of vehicle disassembly factory. Collect the license plate, the Vehicle Registration and the Registration Form of Motor Vehicles (Attachment), and input the relevant information of the discarded vehicle into the computer.
