(01/15/2003)

According to China's Road Traffic Administrative Regulations,
1. On roads where motor vehicle lanes and non-motor vehicle lanes are plotted, motor vehicles should run in the motor lanes, while mopeds and other non-motor vehicles should run in the non-motor lanes. Motorcycles run on the right side of the motor lanes;

3. On roads where small-size and big-size motor vehicle lanes are plotted, small passenger cars run in the small-size lanes, and all other motor vehicles run in the big-size lanes;
4. Motor vehicles in big-size lane are allowed to run in the small-size lane to overtake the vehicles ahead provided they don't intervene with the vehicles in the small-size lane, and vice versa;
5. Vehicles can run in the overtaking lane to overtake vehicles but must return to the original lane afterwards;

According to Shanghai Road Traffic Administrative Regulations, on roads where no central line, motor lane or non-motor lane is plotted:

3. If the road is between six and 10 meters wide, non-motor vehicles run within 1.5 meters of the two outer sides of the road, and motor vehicles run in the middle;
4. If the road is no wider than six meters, both motor and non-motor vehicles run on the right side of the road.
