How do we take into consideration the preservation of houses during the socialist reform of privately owned houses of overseas Chinese?
(06/02/2004)

If the owner of houses has his own houses of residence or if he has left some houses for his own use while renting others during the socialist reform, houses will not be preserved for him in principle. During the reform, if houses that should be preserved are not preserved, compensation can be made according to the number of houses that have been reformed and according to the actual population at that time. Usually ten to twelve square meters will be preserved for each person. Ownership of the preserved houses will be given back but the government is not responsible for emptying the houses.
