What else needs to be done before the joint venture/cooperative medical institution starts medical practice?
(01/15/2003)

After the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation approves the establishment, the medical institution needs to register with the business and trade administration.
Before engaging in medical practice, a medical institution must apply to the original Public Health Administrative Department that examined and approved its medical practice registration, to obtain the institutional medical practice license.

Note:
1. Joint venture/cooperative medical institutions are not allowed to set up branches.
2. The regulations above apply to joint ventures/cooperatives between the Mainland and the SAR of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
3. Investment or cooperation without the permission of the Ministry of Public Health is regarded as illegal medical practice, and will be punished according to laws and regulations concerned.
