What precautions are taken against medical accidents?
(01/15/2003)

Precautions are the responsibility of the hospital, not the patient or family.
Below is a list of measures that local hospitals take to prevent and minimize medical accidents and their impact.

(1) Increasing training for medical workers and doctors on laws and moral standards
(2) Establishing service quality supervising centers in hospitals staffed by reliable and qualified personnel
(3) Improving the ability to respond to medical accidents by anticipating possible scenarios and establishing procedures to follow
(4) Improving management of patients' case histories
(5) Improving communications between doctors and patients and their families. Doctors should keep private information strictly confidential, and if a procedure involves any risk the patient and his family should be warned candidly beforehand.
(6) The hospital is responsible for collecting tangible evidence from the accident scene. After the accident, the hospital must report the case to the related administrators promptly and handle the case in accordance with the rules for dealing with medical accidents. The doctors or medical workers responsible are penalized based on the seriousness of the accident.
