With complete application materials, the application for the first time shall be processed and wound up with 10 working days; application for the second time shall be processed and wound up within 7 working days.

For Shanghai residents and overseas Chinese who are invited to teach in Hong Kong, to do cooperative research work, to go there for senior labor service, to work at artistic field or physical science organs, or their accompanying family members.

1. To complete and submit the Application Form for Shanghai Residents Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao pasted with a full-faced colored picture which is taken recently (48X33mm, with white color as the background), attached with two other pictures of the same dimension (those invited to go to Hong Kong to teach, to do cooperative research work, to go there for senior labor service, to work at artistic field or physical science organs shall submit an official letter from the police station);

2. Applicants shall present for examination the originals of valid Resident Identification Cards, residential registration booklets or other certifications on their registered residence, and submit their photocopies (those filing in the application for the second time are exempted from the photocopies). Overseas Chinese shall present for examination their valid Chinese passports and certifications on their residing abroad, and submit photocopies of the documents (those filing in the application for second time are exempted from the photocopies).

3. To present for examination the originals of Entry Permit for Employment or original of entry permit for accompanying family member(s) of the employees issued by Immigration Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, submitting photocopies of the above documents.

4. To submit other materials assumed to be essential by the entry-exit administration organs. For application for the first time, the applicant shall file in the application in person. For application for the second time, the applicant can entrust his relatives for the application.

Entry-Exit Administration Bureau of Shanghai accepts, does examination and approval work on the application and issues entry permits.
