With complete application materials, the application for the first time shall
be processed and wound up with 10 working days; application for the second time
shall be processed and wound up within 7 working days.
1. For Shanghai residents and overseas Chinese who have relatives residing in
Hong Kong or Macao;
2. For Shanghai residents and overseas Chinese who have relatives being
invited to work for private business or to study in Hong Kong or Macao.
The said¡°Relatives¡±refer to spouses, parents, child(ren), grandparents,
grandchild(ren), blood brother(s) or sister(s), uncle(s), aunt(s), or nephew(s)
of the applicant or of his or her spouse, and spouse of the above persons.
1. To complete and submit the Form of Examination and Approval on Chinese
Citizens Applying for going to and fro Hong Kong or Macao pasted with a
full-faced colored picture which is taken recently (48X33mm, with white color as
the background), attached with two other pictures of the same dimension
2. Applicants shall present for examination the originals of valid Resident
Identification Cards, residential registration booklets or other certifications
on their registered residence, and submit their photocopies (those filing in the
application for the second time are exempted from the photocopies).
Overseas Chinese shall present for examination their valid Chinese passports
and certifications on their residing abroad, and submit photocopies of the
documents (those filing in the application for second time are exempted from the
photocopies). 3. Certifications on the relative relationship between the
applicant and the relative(s) to be visited (those filing in the application for
the second time are exempted from the certifications).
4. Where the person(s) to be visited reside in Hong Kong or Macao,
photocopies of their resident ID cards of Hong Kong or Macao, and photocopies of
such international travel certificates as Entry-exit Permit for Hong Kong &
Macao Residents Traveling to and from Inland Areas (or Home Visiting Certificate
of Hong Kong & Macao residents) or of their foreign passports shall be
submitted. Where persons to be visited are invited to work or study in Hong Kong
or Macao, their Chinese passports or photocopy of their Exit-entry Permit for
Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and photocopies of corresponding entry
permits or endorsement shall be submitted.
5. Other materials assumed to be submitted by the entry-exit administration
organs. For application for the first time, the applicant shall file in the
application in person. For application for the second time, the applicant can
entrust his relative for the application.
For the ones wishing to apply to visit relatives residing in Hong Kong or
Macao, entry-exit administration offices of public security branches or public
security bureaus on district or county level of the place where the applicant¡¯s
residential registration is located accepts the application; Entry-Exit
Administration Bureau of Shanghai does examination and approval work on the
application materials before making an entry-exit permit.
For other categories of application for going to visit relatives in Hong Kong
or Macao, and for overseas Chinese applying to go to visit relatives in Hong
Kong or Macao, Entry-Exit Administration Bureau of Shanghai accepts the
application, does examination and approval work on the application materials
before making an entry-exit permit.
