With complete application materials, the application for the first time can be processed and wound up within 10 working days; application for the second time can be processed and wound up within 7 working days.

For Shanghai residents and overseas Chinese going to Hong Kong or Macao for activities other than official business.

1. To complete and submit the Application Form for Shanghai Residents Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao pasted with a full-faced colored picture which is taken recently (48X33mm, with white color as the background), attached with two other pictures of the same dimension;

2. Applicants shall present for examination the originals of valid Resident Identification Cards, residential registration booklets or other certifications on their registered residence, and their photocopies (those filing in the application for the second time are exempted from the photocopies).

Overseas Chinese shall present for examination their valid Chinese passports and certifications on their residing abroad, and submit photocopies of the documents (those filing in the application for second time are exempted from the photocopies).

3. To submit documents related to the reasons for traveling to Hong Kong or Macao:

（1）Those going to Hong Kong or Macao in their own name for academic exchange events shall present the following documents:

a. Certification on the title of technical post in character with the academic exchange event;

b. An invitation letter.

（2）Those going to Hong Kong or Macao in their own name to attend exhibitions shall present the following documents:

a. An invitation letter;

b. Certifications related to contents of the exhibition.

（3）Those going to consulates of foreign countries in Hong Kong or Macao for interview shall present the following documents:

（4）Those going to Hong Kong or Macao to inherit property shall present the following documents:

a. Notarized documents on the property condition;

b. Certification proving the applicant indeed needs to go to Hong Kong or Macao to inherit the property.

（5）Those going to Hong Kong or Macao for legal proceedings shall present: relevant certifications on going for legal proceedings issued by the court of Hong Kong or Macao.

（6）Those going to Hong Kong or Macao for medical treatment shall present:

documents on the applicant going to Hong Kong or Macao for medical treatment issued by hospitals in Hong Kong or Macao.

4. Other certifications assumed to be submitted by the entry and exit administration organs.

For application for the first time, the applicant shall file in the application in person. For application for the second time, the applicant can entrust his relative for the application.
