Compatriots from Hong Kong or Macao or for Overseas Chinese who invest and work, study or staying for medical service in Shanghai, thus needing to stay for over 3 months.

(I) To fill in the application form on temporary residence permit for compatriots from Hong Kong or Macao or for Overseas Chinese;

(II) To present for examination valid ID card and entry-exit permit of the applicant;

(III) To submit registration form on temporary residence;

(IV) Medical certificate (applicants younger than 16 or older than 17 years can be exempted);

(V) To submit 4 2”barehead front-view colored pictures which are taken recently;

(VI) To submit other certifications related to his temporary residence as the following:

1. Those investing in Shanghai shall present the business license (the general director and deputy director shall be clearly indicated on the business license);

2. Those holding a post or working in enterprises or public institutions in Shanghai shall present the business license, among whom, Hong Kong or Macao resident shall present the Employment Certificate and overseas Chinese shall present a contract on the job engagement or Certificate on Authorization of Job Engagement;

3. Those studying at schools in Shanghai shall submit certifications from schools;

4. Those staying in Shanghai for medical service shall submit certifications from the hospital;

5. Those purchasing house property to reside in Shanghai shall provide certificate on property right of the house property or contract on purchasing house property and invoice of payment for the house property;

6. Those to stay in Shanghai for over 3 months because of other special circumstances, shall provide certifications corresponding to the reasons for temporary residence in Shanghai.

The application is accepted and examined as well as approved by entry and exit administration offices of public security branches or public security bureaus on county level of the place where the applicant stays; Entry-Exit Administration Bureau of Shanghai shall do the permit making job.
