Employers must pay a minimum salary of 490 yuan (US$59) a month to employees for their normal work. The minimum salary excludes payment for work overtime, various kinds of subsidies such as doing middle or night shifts and working in a special environment, housing accumulation funds, endowments, medical and unemployment insurance paid by employees themselves, lunch subsidies, housing and transportation subsidies.
