1. Who can go for certification on confirmation of the identity of foreign
investors
Anyone being the board chairman or vice chairman of the non-legal
representative in a foreign-invested enterprise can go for the certification on
confirmation of the identity of foreign investors, and can go to the Entry-Exit
Administration Bureau of Shanghai with the certification to apply for a
residence permit.

3. Specific formalities in applying for certification on confirmation of the
identity of foreign investors
To get¡°Certification Form on Confirmation of the Identity of Foreign
Investors¡±at Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment
(downloaded document is valid, printed in A4 paper); after filling in the Form,
having the following documents attached: (1) photocopies of Business License and
Approval Certificate of the enterprise; (2) Contract and Bylaws of the company;
(3) letter of appointment of the investor or resolution of the board of
directors.
To go for certification on confirmation of identity of foreign investors for
the first time, applicants shall prepare the above documents and go for the
formalities of confirmation at Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign
Investment.
To go for certification on confirmation of identity of foreign investors for
the second time, applicants only provide photocopies of Business License and
Approval Certificate of the enterprise and the¡°Certification Form on
Confirmation of the Identity of Foreign Investors¡±kept from the previous year,
thus applying for a new confirmation certification.
