You can apply for reissue of your passport provided the lost one is still in its period of validity;
If you lose your passport before you leave the country, your passport will be reissued in three months.
If you lose your passport during a short-term return to China, you will be given related certificates by passport officials after they conduct a check of your passport information.
Procedures:
1. Present a completed Application Form for Changing Passport Information and three recent color photos
2. Present a statement from public security authorities reporting the loss of the passport
3. Present a public announcement about the loss and nullification of the passport in a municipal-level newspaper (such as the Jiefang Daily, Wenhui Daily or Xinmin Evening News).
4. Present additional explanations if you want modifications to your passport.
