According to the Price Law of the People's Republic of China, the prices of the vast majority of commodities and services are decided by the market. Currently the price of only 13 types of commodities and services are decided by the central government as stipulated by the regulation issued last July 4th. These are the following:

(1) Important resources of the central government
(2) Tobacco leaves, salt and gunpowder equipment run by the state
(3) Some chemical fertilizers
(4) Some important drugs
(5) Teaching materials
(6) Natural gas
(7) Water supply and irrigation works
(8) Electric power
(9) Munitions
(10) Important transportation equipment
(11) Basic postal services
(12) Basic telecom services
(13) Important professional services
