The Legislative Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government is an organ directly under the Municipal Government, being responsible for governmental legal affairs in whole Municipality. Its major duties are:

1. To be responsible for the planning and administration of legislative affairs for the Municipal Government;

2. To make unified planning and arrangement for legislation by the Municipal Government;

3. To undertake the legislation interpretation of the Municipal Government’s rules and regulations;

4. To be responsible for sorting out and compiling rules and regulations;

5. To organize the promotion and inspection of the implement action of the system of administration law-enforcement;

6. To organize the inspection of the implementation of laws, rules and regulations;

7. To undertake the acceptance and handling of administrative reconsideration cases and other related matters for the Municipal Government.
