If a participant dies or cancels their Shanghai residence registration because of immigration (out of China) when he/she is a currently employed person, his/her Individual Medical Account will be cancelled from the date that the above case occurs. The participant shall apply to the district/county Medical Insurance Center for cancellation of his/her Individual Medical Account After the cancellation of an Individual Medical Account, the district/county Medical Insurance Center shall settle the remaining amount in the Individual Medical Account and return it to the participant in cash.
