If a person identified as an Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong compatriot, Macao
compatriot or Taiwanese dies in Shanghai, the funeral host shall deregister the
registered residence of the deceased at the local police station subject to the
Medical Certificate of Death, which is issued by a hospital, to obtain a Funeral
and Burial Permit of Deceased Citizens and then bring the permit, passport of
the deceased, the trustor¡¯s ID card or equivalent identity certificate to a
funeral house to handle the burial and funeral process.
If a foreigner dies in Shanghai, the funeral host shall bring the Medical
Certificate of Death issued by a hospital, the passport of the deceased, the
entrustment document and passport or ID card of the trustor, and the necropsy
report issued by the Shanghai Public Security Bureau in case of accidental
death, to the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Office, located at 1500
Minsheng Road, Pudong New District, to obtain the death certificate of a
foreigner. After that, the funeral host shall bring the death certificate of
foreigner to a funeral house to handle the burial and funeral process and
signing the contract of detailed services.
