How do the relevant leading departments of their trades at a central level perform the duties to protect the lawful rights and interests of consumers?

The relevant leading departments of their trades at a central level, refers to the administrative departments that are responsible for overseeing the subordinate operators in their specific trade, in accordance with the applied rules and regulations of the State.

Their duties include: protecting the lawful rights and interests of consumers, overseeing and reinforcing the administration of operators, preventing occurrences of acts that infringe upon the lawful rights and interests of consumers, investigating and resolving any existing problems and issues, and consolidating the service functions related to the rights and interests of consumers.

The competent trade authorities performing the duty of trade administration shall seriously assess and obtain information on the opinions of trade conduct, commodities and the service quality of operators raised by consumers, consumers' associations and other social organizations protecting the rights and interests of consumers, and carry out a timely investigation and resolution.

In order to make it convenient for consumers to report their opinions and expose illegal acts regarding the relevant issues infringing upon the lawful rights and interests of consumers, the competent administrative authorities shall apply the proper measures, including but not limited to, setting up complaint boxes in concentrated places of business activities, simplifying reception procedures and appointing special personnel responsible for obtaining such information. Simultaneously, they should make frequent contact with consumersĄŻassociations and other social organizations for consumers, and accept opinions from consumers via complaint or other channels in order to report and resolve issues in a timely manner.
