The foreign spouse, parents and children under the age of 18 of a Chinese citizen or a foreigner who has obtained the Foreigner’s Residence Permit in China

Ⅱ. Formalities:

1. Handing over the originals of the valid passport and visa for examination;

2. The original of the certificate of check-in in Shanghai (issued by the hotel or the police substation of the area where the lodging takes place);

3. Submitting the Foreigner Visa and Residence Permit Application Form completely filled up and one recent 2-inch half-length, bareheaded and full-faced photograph;

4. Submitting the certificates conforming to the applicant’s identity and origin of the application:

1) Being the foreign spouse, the applicant should provide the original and the copy of the Marriage Certificate;

2) Being the foreign parent, the applicant should provide the original and the copy of the Family Relation Certificate;

3) Being the foreign child, the applicant should provide the original and the copy of the Birth Certificate or the Family Relation Certificate;

4) Visiting the family members, residents of China’s interior, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their local permanent residence certificates or the relevant certificates of actual residence place and the ID cards;

5) Visiting the family members, residents of overseas Chinese and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their identity certificates and certificates of permanent residence for 6 months or more;

6) Visiting the family members, foreigners who have obtained the Foreigner’s Residence Permit in China, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their Foreigner’s Residence Permit.

Note: If such certificate is issued by an overseas organ, it must be authenticated by China’s embassy or consulate.
