The foreigner visiting relatives and friends in China

Ⅱ. Formalities:

1. Handing over the originals of the valid passport and visa for examination;

2. The original of the certificate of check-in in Shanghai (issued by the hotel or the police substation of the area where the lodging takes place);

3. Submitting the Foreigner Visa and Residence Permit Application Form completely filled up and one recent 2-inch half-length, bareheaded and full-faced photograph;

4. Submitting the certificates conforming to the origin of application:

1) Visiting the relatives or friends, residents of China’s interior, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their local permanent residence certificates or the relevant certificates of actual residence place and the ID cards;

2) Visiting the relatives or friends, residents of overseas Chinese or from Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their identity certificates and certificates of permanent residence for 6 months or more;

3) Visiting the relatives or friends, foreigners permanently residing in China, the applicant should provide the originals and the copies of their permanent permits or Foreigner’s Residence Permit.
