Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng underscored the city¡¯s four most important tasks in
the later half of this year at yesterday¡¯s standing committee meeting under the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Han said the city should speed up economic restructuring to develop the
economy in a healthy way and continue promoting the opening up drive.
The government should improve residents¡¯living conditions by solving problems
they are concerned about, he said.
The city should make efforts to hold more big events such as the 2007 Special
Olympics, which will be held from October 2 to 11.
Han said the government will collect valuable opinions and suggestions to
improve its work.
The sacking of Sun Baogui, the former director of Shanghai No.1 People's
Hospital's cardiac department, was approved at the meeting. He was arrested for
allegedly taking bribes.
