Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng met visiting Costa Rican President Oscar Arias on Friday and Goh Chok Tong, Senior Minister of Singapore on Saturday.

Han said that the just-concluded 17th National Congress has put forward strategies to build up a well-off society in an all-round way.

Han also said that the city’s development is an epitome of the reform and opening up nationwide. He said that Shanghai will hold on to the policy and strive to be an open cosmopolitan featured with Shanghai characteristics.

Han extended his best wishes to Goh Chok Tong for the upcoming 2007 Singapore Season in Shanghai. Goh expected to share experience with Shanghai in urban management and aging solution.

Oscar appreciated the city’s achievements and said he hopes for closer cooperation and mutually beneficial ties.
