Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng yesterday met a delegation led by John Brumby, Premier of Victoria State, Australia, in Shanghai.

Han extended a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Shanghai's people. Han said Shanghai has great cooperation with Victoria in various fields such as education, medicine and nanotechnology. Shanghai hopes to have further cooperation with the state.

Han said Shanghai is preparing for the Shanghai Expo and will present a successful, splendid and unforgettable Expo to the world.

Brumby thanked Han for his hospitality. Brumby said the theme of Shanghai Expo -- Better City, Better Life -- coincides with Victoria's concept in urban planning.

The state will invest six million Australian dollars (US$5.49 million) to put up a Victoria state exhibition in the Australian national pavilion, Brumby said.
