Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng yesterday met Nils Smedegaard Andersen, CEO of Denmark-based A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, the owner of world’s largest container carrier.

Han said that Shanghai enterprises had benefited immensely from cooperation with Maersk in shipping and port construction since 1998.

Han also said the municipal government would continue to support the development of Maersk in the city. He said progress in the city’s shipping service industry could be achieved by international cooperation.

Han welcomed world-famous enterprises to help build the city as an international shipping hub.

Andersen said he appreciated the past cooperation with Shanghai and looked forward to a closer cooperation in the future, especially regarding harbor security, administration, training and technology transfer.
