Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng yesterday met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
vice president and premier of United Arab Emirates and Dubai chief.
Han congratulated on the China-UAE Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum held
in Shanghai and appreciated the bilateral cooperation since the two countries
established diplomatic ties in 1984.
Han said the economy of Shanghai had witnessed double-digit growth for 17
consecutive years since the opening up of Pudong New Area. He suggested that
Shanghai use the successful experience of UAE in urban construction for
reference and hoped for even closer relations.
Al Maktoum said both sides could learn from each other and said he looking
forward to a tighter cooperation with China in the fields of economy and trade.
