The combination of three types of roads

To build the middle ring road project is an important decision made by Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to promote the multi-function of cities, to adjust the distribution of city layout and to improve the urban road network. According to the directing department of inner ring road project, to build this closed expressway, they will use the combination of three roads, namely, "ground expressway plus supporting roads", "viaduct expressway plus ground roads" and "ground expressway plus ground roads". Underpass or overpass will be used on major intersections and certain road section.

Right now, the construction of three passenger underpasses near Wu Jia Chang has already been finished. The structure part of underpss in Han Dan Road has already been finished. The Da Bai Shu Intersection has already finished 2/5 of its piling. Wen Shui Road Viaduct has finished 1/3 of its piling and has started the concrete work. The Gong He Xin Road Intersection has finished half of the concrete piling. Viaduct from Tong Chuan Road to Wan Rong Road has finished 2/5 of the piling. Project from Hong Gu Road to Gu Yang Road has finished more than half of the underground structure work. The construction of Bei Hong Road underpass will be sealed so tht it will not affect nearby traffic. The underground construction has been finished by more than half.

17 change hubs as supporting facilities.
After the completion of the iddle ring road, it will be more convenient for local citizens to go out.

Relevant supporting public transportation facilities will also be included into the daily agenda of relevant departments. With the concerted efforts of Shanghai Municipal Urban Planning Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Construction Committee and district governments, the planning of four kinds of 17 hubs has been drafted, including, comprehensive change hub for downtown and suburban transportation, change hub for downtown transportation, P+R (Parking and Rail Traffic) comprehensive change hub and the change hub for frequently used public transportation. Shanghai Municipal Urban Planning Bureau has also given full consideration to coordinate the traffic on middle ring road and on the planned rail traffic. In the rail traffic network in Shanhai in the future, there will be 28 stations that overlaps or connects with middle ring road, bringing about more conveniences to local citizens.

Sight planning aims at combining "water with green"
