Recently, the 6564 youngsters in Nan District Community of Xu Hui District received a map of the district community, on which all the education bases, culture and sports centers and community-based libraries are marked out clearly. Children can read in libraries and take part in various sports activities. Xu Hui District works hard to make full use of education resources within the society. Family, school and society work together to create a“Loving Home”for youngsters and to guarantee their healthy growth.

A survey carried out in three junior middle schools in Xu Hui District indicated that, among 934 students in the three schools, 57.9% of them do not live in nearby area. Because of apartment purchasing, relocation and the choice of schools, neighborhood community cannot longer organize activities for students. Many students find nothing to do during their spare time. To solve this problem, a Youth Working Committee was formed in 13 district communities in Xu Hui District. Family, school and social resources are integrated to create a“loving home”for the healthy development of youngsters.

Family is the first and most important school for children and many district communities are working hard to improve this school. Auntie Shen, a communist party member in Le Shan New Village, has twin daughters who are both university students. Each time they come back home, they take part in volunteer work in the district community. They respect elders and love kids and are always praised by their neighbors. Such examples trigger the thought of many families on education. Many families are now considering how to know more about kids, how to love them and to promote their healthy development. Recently, Xu Jia Hui District Community organized a donation fair; many children went with their parents.

Education resources are of great importance. District communities in Xu Hui District often organize interesting activities such as lectures and youth army school in schools. During the Youth League Entrance ceremony, an old cadre in the district community was a witness and his words encouraged youngsters. Schools also work together with district communities. Recently, Chang Le Middle School organized a gather called“Pass On The National Spirit”and 99.2% of the students, which was 1190, participated.

Extracurricular activities are also interesting. Wu Kang Neighborhood Community established a physics laboratory. Kids are interested in such experience as“flying coin”and“electrified hair”. There are quite a lot of protected buildings in Hu Nan District Community. So the district community administration decided to open some of the old buildings for free. Some district communities even bought computers and open their Internet classroom to youngsters for free during holidays. Departments of urban administration, administration of Industry and Commerce and Police Stations also worked together with district communities. Any illegal video game shops, chess rooms and Internet bars within 200 meters of primary and middle schools are banned. Owners of Internet bars were invited to discuss how to make their contribution for the healthy growth of youngsters. Many owners promised,“I will not allow non-adults into my Internet bar.”
