Respecting The Suggestions of Local Citizens. Signals For Blind People Turned Off During Evenings

11/23/2004

Starting from June 21, the "Alert Signal for Blind People", which received a lot of attention from local citizens, will no longer work 24 hours a day. Shanghai Traffic and Patrol Police Squadron will turn off the sound signals during evenings, from 21:00 to 9:00.

Recently, Shanghai Traffic and Patrol Police Squadron installed two sets of "Green Lights Counting Machine" and "Alert Signal for Blind People". After a few days of operation, it was found out that these signals somehow disturbed nearby residents in the evening.

On the evening of June 19, leading officials of Shanghai Traffic and Patrol Police Squadron and other relevant departments went to the sight. After adjustment, the sound signals will be turned off from 21:00 to 9:00. Engineering staff said that since the technologies were not mature, the sounding signals could only be turned on and off manually. In the future, they would try automatic control.
