The comprehensive project of Gong He Xin road consists of two
parts¡ª¡ªthe elevated road project of Gong He Xin road and the project of north
extension of No. 1 subway. The elevated highway project of Gong He Xin road is
the backbone road of the city in north and south direction, started south from
the first turning point of North & South elevated highway in junction with
the north approach of the fly-over bridge of the internal circular boundary and
ended north to the south junction of fly-over bridge of the Yunchuan road in
north section of Puxi part of the external circular boundary, with a full length
of approximately 9.65 kilometers, where the elevated part starts south from
south side of the junction of Liuying road (connected with Gong He Xin road of
internal circular boundary) and ends north to the north side of the junction of
west Changjiang road, with a full length of approximately 8 kilometers. The
scheme of constructing six elevated driveways plus ground six fast and two slow
driveways for standard highway section and four elevated driveways plus ground
six fast and two slow driveways for part of highway sections is adopted in this
project. The ground roadway under the elevation is four-breadth road separated
for motor vehicle and non motor vehicle, where the central vehicle roadway is
two-way four-driveway, and the mixed auxiliary driveway (public traffic
dedicated driveway and non motor vehicle driveway) are constructed in both
sides. Four-breadth roadway separated for motor vehicle and non motor
vehicle is constructed for the road section from Changjiang xi road to the
external circular boundary, where the motor vehicle driveway is two-way
eight-driveway. The north extension section project of No. 1 subway has a total
length of 16.8 kilometers, started from north end of the shanghai railway
station, along with Datong road, Gong He Xin road, Yunchuan road to Fujin road
in Yuepu area, Baoshan district, where the underground line is 2.18 kilometers
and the elevated line is 14.62 kilometers. There are 12 stops in total,
including 3 underground stops and 9 elevated stops. In the mean time, it is
planned to set up a parking lot respectively near the Xinzhuang stop and Fujin
stop. The first phase of north extension project has a total length of
approximate 12.49 kilometers from shanghai railway station stop to Taihe road
stop, including underground line of 2.18 kilometers and elevated line of 10.31
kilometers. There are 9 stops set up in total, only one of them is underground
stop, others are elevated stops. Also a small parking lot is planned to be
established in Xinzhuang. The comprehensive project is expected to have total
investment of approximate RMB 4.62 billion, initiated at the end of Dec. 1999,
and planned to be basically completed before the end of 2002.
