Jazz Festival

The JZ Festival, running from October 15 through 23, features celebrated musicians at the Expo Garden Park and Shanghai Centre Theatre.

The JZ Festival this year will hold a two-day outdoor music party at the Expo Garden Park, featuring live music by more than 70 groups and musicians from both China and abroad. They include Jazzanova from Germany, Joji Mayer and Nerve from Switzerland, Tower of Power and Roy Ayers from the United States.

Jazz week

Shakespeare Comedy

TNT Theater Britain will present a drama based on Shakespeare’s most popular comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The drama is about a man trying to
understand love without understanding himself. The original text will be carefully and freely interpreted allowing its deeper meanings and confl icts to emerge.

‘Our Youth’
The exhibition features the canvas works by He Duolin, one of the big names in China’s contemporary art history, and his 10 students. A graduate from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, He and his students share the same trait of romanticism in their paintings. The young girls, under his brushstrokes, are mostly perplexed and puzzled. The artist captures the cruelty of youth with a unique angle.

Electronic Music

Shanghai Conservatory of Music will present the 2011 International Electronic Music Week. The festival consists of a series of concerts, sound arts installation exhibitions, lectures, workshops and International Forum.
