Jiang Ping is in charge of agriculture, human resources, social security, industrial and commercial administration, civil affairs, quality inspection, external cooperation and exchanges, district affairs, Taiwan affairs, ethnic and religious affairs, overseas Chinese affairs, public administration schools, paramilitary units, cooperation with the People's Liberation Army and the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee.

Born in 1956, Jiang Ping is a native of Zhejiang Province and a senior economist with a Master's and Doctor's degree. He was elected vice mayor of Shanghai in April 2011.
Jiang started working in March 1975 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in October 1981. The jobs he held previously included the deputy secretary of the Communist Youth League at the No. 2 Repair Workshop of the Shanghai Automobile Transport Company, the secretary of the Communist Youth League of the Shanghai Transport Bureau, deputy Party secretary of the Shanghai Transport Bureau, deputy director of the policy department of the Shanghai Transport Bureau, director of the secretariat of the Pudong New Area Administration, assistant office director of the Pudong New Area Administration, deputy secretary-general of the Pudong New Area Administration, secretary-general of the political and judicial committee of the Pudong New Area, deputy governor and deputy Party secretary of the Pudong New Area, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government, deputy secretary-general of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Committee, secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government, director of Shanghai Municipal Government's General Office, and director of the Shanghai Management Committee for Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching-ling’s Residences.
