How do children of Overseas Chinese returnees get educated in Shanghai?

The children of Overseas Chinese with a local Hukou (Permanent Residence Permit) who return to China or transfer to Shanghai can apply for education at a district/county level administrative department of education, with the transfer documents from the original school and all other relevant documents.

The children of Overseas Chinese returnees who work in Shanghai for a limited period of time can apply to study in Shanghai by submitting the Temporary Residence Permit, the employment proof of the parents and all currently-held certificates to the district/county level education bureau.

The children of Overseas Chinese returnees who reside in Shanghai on a long-term basis, if coming to Shanghai, can participate in examinations in order to enroll at a senior middle school. Additional points will be added to students who have lived abroad for five years and who have spoken a foreign language for three or more years.
