What is the cost ceiling of the medical insurance with the Municipal Medical Insurance Fund and how shall costs above the ceiling be paid?

The cost ceiling of the Municipal Medical Insurance Fund is four (4) multiples of the average annual employee salary of Shanghai in the previous year. For an employee in a Medical Insurance Year, his/her medical expenses for hospitalization and emergency treatment that are above the deductible, as well as the expenses for clinical severe illness or at-home medical treatment that is below the cost ceiling, shall be paid with the Municipal Medical Insurance Fund proportionally as defined above. For the medical expenses above the cost ceiling of the Municipal Medical Insurance Fund, 80% of it shall be paid with the Local Supplemental Fund, and 20% shall be paid at the participant’s own private cost.
