How can one choose the right time and place to travel, so as to maximally prevent disease?

Traveling outside has a positive influence on both the body and the mind. However, if a person does not choose the right time and place to travel according to their health condition in advance, old diseases may resurge and there is an increased risk of returning in the middle of the tour to receive medical treatment, thus, the loss outweighs the gain.

In autumn and winter, the rainfall is lower and the weather is generally dry, so it is very suitable for traveling either in the south or the north. However, for people with ulcers or stomachaches, it is not a suitable season for traveling, as gastric ulcers (especially duodenal ulcers) often resurge in the transitional period of autumn to winter and winter to spring.

In winter, it is a world of ice and snow in northern China. This is indeed a natural spectacle for young people from the south, and especially ice-sports, snow-sports and ice sculpture arts are particularly charming. However, for people with pulmonary emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and/or an allergic physical disposition, or people aged 60 and above, winter is not a suitable time for travelling to the north.

In spring, flowers bloom in the bright sunshine, but for people with pollen allergies, it is wise to stay indoors. Within China’s vast territory, when the south is blossoming lavishly, severe coldness starts to subside in the north and the weather begins to turn warm, thus, this is the right time to have a north-bound tour. It is neither hot nor cold in Guangdong during springtime and very appropriate for traveling, but the air is very humid, so people with rheumatism, arthritis, and/or skin diseases should not travel in Guangdong during spring.

It is a wise choice for people to travel in the mountain or seaside areas for summer tours. However, for people with high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease or congenital heart disease, they should not travel to plateaus or high mountains but rather in places with a mild climate and gentle terrain. Therefore, people should choose suitable traveling times and places based on their individual health condition before traveling.
