Diplomat Program Concludes in East China Normal University

    The graduation ceremony of the Diplomat Program 2014 was recently held in the East China Normal University. Yang Weiren, Chief of the International Exchanges Division of the Shanghai Municipal Committee on Education, Huang Meixu, Director of the International Education Center of the East China Normal University, representatives from the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and more than 20 diplomats attended the ceremony.

    A total number of 37 diplomats from 24 consulates including Canada, Korea, Russia, Greece, Finland and Spain completed this year’s program.

    Huang congratulated them on finishing the ten-week-long Chinese language course and thanked the Shanghai Municipal Committee on Education and the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office for their strong support.

    Yang asked the participants in detail about their progress in learning Chinese and talked about his expectations on next year’s program.

    The Diplomat Program is a well-known project of the Shanghai Summer School co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Committee on Education and the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office. It has been held successfully for four consecutive years in the East China Normal University, and more than 160 consular officials from 42 consulates in Shanghai have participated in this program. This year’s program lasted for more than two months during which participating consular officials felt the charm of Chinese through education full of fun and interaction and improved greatly their Chinese speaking skills.
