Han Zheng Meets with Chairman of Saenuri Party Kim Moo Sung
10.28.2014

On October 15, Han Zheng, member of the Political Bureau of the 18th CPC Central Committee and Party Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met with Kim Moo Sung, Chairman of the Saenuri Party of the Republic of Korea. Han welcomed Chairman Kim on behalf of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government.

Han said that China and Korea are friendly neighbors with close ties and we cherish the long-lasting friendship between the two countries. Shanghai has extensive cooperation with Korea in economy, science, technology, culture and people-to-people exchange, as epitomized by its sister-city relationship with Busan starting over 20 years ago. For all the challenges the global economy faces, Shanghai, as China’s economic center and major port of entry, has kept double digit growth in its trade with Korea in the first half of this year. The delegation’s visit to China, and in particular to Shanghai, will further promote bilateral relationship as well as the friendly exchange between Shanghai and Korea.

Kim said that Shanghai and its neighboring areas have attracted not only Korean companies but also nationals and thanked Shanghai for the support and care given to them. The Chairman pointed out that every time he comes to Shanghai, he is marveled by the significant changes that have taken place in this economic hub of the world’s second largest economy. The China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone has attracted a lot of attention in Korea and provided a good opportunity for further cooperation between the two sides. Shanghai is home to the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea during the Japanese colonial rule, and therefore the city holds dear to many Koreans.

Yin Hong, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, also attended the meeting.
