Yang Xiong Meets Dunedin Mayor

    On October 28, Mayor Yang Xiong met with Mayor Dave Cull of Dunedin on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Shanghai and Dunedin. The two Mayors also witnessed the signing of the Overall Education Cooperation Agreement between Shanghai and Dunedin.

    Yang said that Dunedin is one of Shanghai’s closest sister cities and has signed five rounds of memorandum of understanding on sister-city relationship with us over the past two decades. The two sides have carried out close and fruitful cooperation throughout the years, extending their exchange and strengthening their peoples’ friendship. The visit by the Mayor and his delegation will promote the mutual understanding and friendship of the peoples of Shanghai and Dunedin and enhance the two cities’ cooperation in economy and trade, education, tourism and high-tech.

    Cull said that the exchange between Shanghai and Dunedin has generated many successful results. As we celebrate the important milestone of the 20th anniversary of sister-city relationship, we are willing to cement our existing cooperation with Shanghai in economy, education and culture so as to ensure productive ongoing connections.
