Wu Zhiming Meets American Consul General in Shanghai

    On January 23, Wu Zhiming, chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with Michael H. Smith, consul general of the United States in Shanghai.

    Chairman Wu Zhiming said that Shanghai has conducted much pragmatic and fruitful cooperation in the economic, trade, cultural, scientific & technological and educational areas with different parts of the United States. The CPPCC Shanghai Committee will, giving play to its own advantages, strengthen its exchange with the U.S. local legislative assemblies and friendly organizations and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.

    Consul General Michael H. Smith said that the U.S. consulate general will, playing the role of a bridge, provide help in think tank building and contacts with the U.S. Congress and make active efforts at deepening exchange and expanding cooperation between China and the United States and between Shanghai and U.S. cities.
