Han Zheng Meets Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and President of Telugu Desam Party, India
    On April 17, Han Zheng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met with Nara Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and president of Telugu Desam Party, India and the delegation he led.
    Han Zheng said that China and India are friendly neighbors with ancient civilizations and both have made important contributions to human civilization and progress. To strengthen economic and trade cooperation and achieve common development between China and India will not only benefit the 2.5 billion people of the two countries, but also make an important contribution to world economic development. Shanghai has had frequent exchanges with different parts of India and has established a sister-city relationship with Mumbai. We encourage more local enterprises to go global, including India, for development and new cooperation opportunities. Shanghai would like very much to have more cooperation with Andhra Pradesh and together with it to make new contributions to the friendly relations between China and India.
    Nara Chandrababu Naidu noted that world-shaking changes have taken place in China since its reform and opening up started, by which the Indian people are deeply impressed. Shanghai is a prosperous and dynamic international metropolis. In the process of pushing forward the construction of its cities, Andhra Pradesh has drawn on the useful experience in the economic and social development of Shanghai. Shanghai has not only first-rate urban development and management experience but also many topnotch enterprises. He looked forward to Shanghai’s support to and Shanghai enterprises’ participation in the building of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh, and to increasing cooperation between the two sides and realizing common development.
