At present, Shanghai is accelerating the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and has made institutional innovations in investment management, facilitation of trade, supervision and financial opening up and innovation, in an effort to explore new ways and provide new experience for the country’s further reform and opening up. Shanghai is set to push forward the correlated development of the FTZ and the international economic, financial, trade and shipping centers as well as the scientific & technological innovation center, and we welcome British businesses to be a part of all this. He hoped that the British ambassador will help promote the cooperation between Shanghai and Britain in the areas of finance, trade, education and creative culture and that both sides will win in development.

Ambassador Barbara Woodward CMC Obe praised Shanghai as a creative and vibrant city, saying that this year is the UK-China Cultural Exchange Year, which will provide opportunities for Britain and Shanghai to conduct more cultural exchanges. Britain follows with high interest the building of the FTZ in Shanghai and she will encourage more British companies to participate in it. She wished to see more cooperation with Shanghai in the financial, creative culture, medical, environmental protection and educational areas.
