06.24.2015
On June 14, a ceremony for the completion of the fifth session of the Chinese Language Training Program for Foreign Consular Officials in Shanghai was held at East China Normal University (ECNU). Fifty-five officials from 28 foreign consulates attended the class that lasted 10 weeks and received a certificate for completing the course.

The closing ceremony saw the trainees seated at round tables in a light atmosphere. Rodrigo Castro, consul general of Chile, spoke as the representative of all the students. On behalf of his fellow trainees, he thanked the program organizer for its thoughtful organization and arrangements of the class and for the high-quality teaching of the ECNU teachers. He said that the 10-week training session has enabled them a deep experience of the charm of the Chinese language, enhanced their understanding of Chinese culture, helped them to better communicate with the local people in various circles and given them an opportunity to know each other, so he hoped the program will continue to run. The foreign trainees also sang in group a Chinese song “Friends”.

The Chinese Language Training Program for Foreign Consular Officials has run five sessions now, attended by 216 consular officials in total. It has enjoyed a good reputation among the foreign consulates in the city.
