Han Zheng Meets President of Czech Republic

    On September 4, Han Zheng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met with His Excellency Milos Zeman, president of the Czech Republic, extending, on behalf of the 24 million Shanghai people, warm welcome to him, who came to Shanghai for visit after attending in Beijing the events in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascism War.

    Han Zheng said that what His Excellency has seen and heard in Shanghai is an epitome of the great achievements of China’s reform and opening up drive. At present, in accordance with the requirements and plans of the central government, we are striving to turn Shanghai into an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center and a socialist modern international metropolis. He believed that His Excellency’s visit will further drive forward the friendly ties between the two countries and the friendly cooperation between Shanghai and different parts of Czech in the economic, trade, sports and cultural areas.

    President Milos Zeman said that it is his first visit to Shanghai and he is impressed by what has been accomplished in development by Shanghai, China’s economic center. Czech and China have maintained close exchange and cooperation in the economic, trade, cultural, sports and aviation areas, and he hoped that his visit will further promote the bilateral cooperation and the development of Czech-China relations.
