Shanghai plays an important role in the development of Sino-US relations, and we would like to further promote friendly exchange and close cooperation with American local governments, including our sister cities. At present, the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone is going on smoothly, and we are committed to promoting investment and trade facilitation and financial reform and opening up there. We will encourage more Chinese enterprises to make investment and conduct cooperation through the FTZ platform, and we welcome foreign businesses, including American firms, to develop and enjoy opportunities with us here in Shanghai. Innovation is the soul of Shanghai’s development tomorrow. We are striving for a globally influential science & technology innovation center, and right now various innovations are flourishing and there is a prevalent atmosphere for innovation and startups in the city. Science & technology innovation cannot do without international exchange and cooperation, the mayor stated, so he wanted to see more cooperation with Colorado, a state with plenty of innovation resources, in the educational, scientific & technological, cultural and tourist areas.

Governor John Hickenlooper said that Shanghai has achieved great progress in the last few decades, whose development model is worth learning and borrowing by Colorado. Colorado has a large number of science & technology institutions and facilities, and he welcomes more exchange in innovative network and cooperation between businesses, universities and science & technology institutions, for the benefit of development of both places.
