Yang Xiong Meets Chairman of Central Jutland Region, Denmark
09.30.2015
On September 15, Yang Xiong, mayor of Shanghai, met with Bent Hansen, chairman of Central Jutland Region, Denmark, and his delegation.

Mayor Yang Xiong said that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark, and the chairman’s visit fully shows the high importance he attaches to the China-Denmark friendly relations and that between Shanghai and Central Jutland Region. Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytales and The Little Mermaid of Denmark are known to every household in Shanghai. After becoming sister city/region, Shanghai and Central Jutland Region have carried out a series of fruitful cooperation in food safety, medical and health and other areas. Faced with common challenges such as ageing of population and food safety, we hope to further our exchange and sharing of experience with Central Jutland Region and promote more practical cooperation. At present, Shanghai is stepping up the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and its scientific and technological innovation center with a global reach, which provides a new opportunity and platform for our bilateral cooperation. We will, in accordance with the MOU signed between the two sides last year, expand our cooperation in the scientific and technological, educational and cultural areas, while maintaining existing cooperation.

Chairman Bent Hansen said that Central Jutland Region held grand celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries in May this year. Central Jutland Region would like to deepen its exchange and cooperation with Shanghai, focusing on medical and health, food safety and other areas, and search for solutions to our common challenges. He also looked forward to working with Shanghai to open up new areas of cooperation and strengthen exchange and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation.

Nicolai Prytz, consul general of Denmark in Shanghai, was present at the meeting.
