Han Zheng Meets Chairman of IBLAC

    On October 31, Han Zheng, secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met separately with Sir Martin Sorrell, chairman of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai (IBLAC) and CEO of WPP, Severin Schwan, CEO of Roche, Jean Lemierre, chairman of BNP Paribas, and Jacob Wallenberg, former chairman of IBLAC and chairman of Investor AB, who came to Shanghai to attend the 27th IBLAC meeting.
     
    Han Zheng said that the topic of innovation for this year’s meeting is also a top priority of Shanghai’s development now and into the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Through a change of the motive force for development, we will make innovation the true main force driving Shanghai’s future development and attain sustainable development. At present, in accordance with the plans of the central authorities, Shanghai is carrying out reforms unprecedented in depth and scope, and by adopting a series of major reform measures, we want to make sure that innovative thinking will take root in the hearts of the people and a prevailing atmosphere favorable for innovation and creation will take shape in the whole society.
     
    He continued to say that for many years the IBLAC members have contributed a lot of constructive views and suggestions for Shanghai’s development, which we deeply appreciate. With the rapidly developing science and technology, we have ushered in an era of fast changes, so we look forward to our friends old and new in the global business community sharing with us the latest concepts, experience and wisdom on the IBLAC platform We also hope that through the renowned transnationals, including the IBLAC members, the world will understand better China and Shanghai’s now and future.
     
    Sir Martin Sorrell, Severin Schwan, Jean Lemierre and Jacob Wallenberg said that each IBLAC meeting is a gathering of old friends, where the members offer their insights and counsel for the development of Shanghai and the meeting of minds inevitably generates lots of sparks of wisdom. With the development and change of the world, the CEOs wished to see the IBLCA meeting, with a history of over 20 years now, showing greater vigor and better serving Shanghai’s development tomorrow. The international business community pays high attention to China and to Shanghai’s reform and innovation measures and expects to expand and deepen cooperation and realize common development.
