Han Zheng Meets Chairman of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce

    On April 13, Han Zheng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met with Y K Pang, chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HGGCC) and the delegation led by him.
     
    Han Zheng introduced to his guests the development goals of the country in the 13th Five-Year Plan period and stressed in particular that Shanghai will adhere to the five major development concepts of innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and sharing, take the lead in establishing an economic administration system compatible with international practice, and drive its future development with innovation. The ultimate purpose of reform and opening up is to let the people to benefit more. As a comparatively developed city on the east coast, Shanghai is obliged to make a greater contribution to the building of the country into a comparatively well-off society. For many years, Shanghai and Hong Kong have maintained close ties and he would like to see friends at the HGGCC increasing exchange and promoting cooperation with Shanghai for mutual benefit and win for both. 
     
    Y K Pang said Shanghai is an important investment destination of Hong Kong businesses, which has also provided a favorable environment for the development of Hong Kong firms in the city. The 13th Five-Year Plan will bring about more opportunities for Hong Kong businesses. Shanghai enjoys broad prospects for development and the HGGCC members highly wish to be a part of Shanghai’s development and play a bigger role in Hong Kong-Shanghai cooperation.
     
    Sha Hailin, member of the Standing Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Lin Longbin, deputy secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Zhang Xiaosong, director general of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shang Yuying, chairperson of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Zhou Yajun, deputy director-general of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government, were present at the meeting.
     
    After the meeting, the delegation had a meeting with Zhang Xiaosong and Zhou Yajun for further exchange on cooperation between the two cities.
