Kusatsu International Friendship Association Delegation, Japan, Visits Xuhui District

    This year marks the 25th anniversary of friendly ties between Xuhui district and Kusatsu city of Japan, and to express friendly sentiments of the Kusatsu people, Kusatsu International Friendship Associationpresented to Xuhui one cherry tree and 20 saplings and sent a delegation headed by its president Keijiro Minami to Xuhui on May 13.

    The delegation visited Xuhui District Administrative Service Center to learn about the district’s economic and social development and then attended a ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of their friendship bonds at Guijiang Road green land.

    At the ceremony, the two sides planted the cherry saplings that symbolize the Japanese city’s friendship toward the people of Xuhui. President Keijiro Minami handed over to the Xuhuiside a personal letter from Hashikawa Wataru, mayor of Kusatsu, and a list of the donated cherry saplings. Xu Jianhua, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Xuhui District People’s Congress, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Japanese side and said the saplings they planted will grow well into trees with exuberant foliage and bear rich fruit in their win-win cooperation.
