Shanghai Intellectual Property Briefing Held

    On April 26, Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration jointly held a briefing on intellectual property in Shanghai in 2016. Fan Yufei, counsel of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, presided over the briefing, and Lu Guoqiang, secretary-general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Joint Meeting and director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, introduced the citys intellectual property work in 2016 and its priorities in 2017. Over 100 people, including officials from the foreign consulates and representatives of the 10 member organizations of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Joint Meeting, attended the event.

    In 2016, according to Lu Guoqiang, Shanghai earnestly implemented a series of major plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council for building China into an intellectual property power and, aiming at turning itself into an intellectual property center in the Asia-Pacific region, Shanghai carried forward the intellectual property strategy and vigorously bolstered intellectual property protection and use and realized a good start in intellectual property work in the 13th Five-Year Plan period. In 2017, Shanghai will continue to carry out the strategic decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Government for intellectual property work, and will give priority to reforming intellectual property comprehensive administration, shaping up an overall intellectual property protection pattern, enhancing intellectual property quality and its highly efficient use and deepening international cooperation in intellectual property, thus rendering full support for the building of China into an intellectual property power and Shanghai into an science and technology center.
